Safety Awareness
Before accepting the cylinder, check for any signs of leakage. Smell the area around the cylinder for gas odor, and listen for any hissing sounds.
Ensure the cylinder's seal is intact and not tampered with. The seal should be provided by the gas company.
Lift the cylinder carefully, preferably with the help of another person, to avoid strain or injury. Keep it upright at all times.
Ensure the area where the cylinder will be used or stored is well-ventilated to prevent gas buildup in case of a leak.
Keep the cylinder away from open flames, sparks, and other sources of ignition.
Place the cylinder on a flat, stable surface to prevent it from falling over. Use a proper gas cylinder stand if available.
Check the condition of the regulator and hose for any signs of wear and tear. Ensure they are securely attached. Always replace them with new ones every 2 years to ensure safety.
Open the cylinder valve slowly and ensure it is closed tightly when not in use.
If the cylinder has a safety cap, ensure it is in place when the cylinder is not connected to an appliance.
Periodically check the cylinder and connections for any signs of leaks or damage.
Be familiar with emergency procedures in case of a gas leak or fire. Keep emergency contact numbers handy.
